On June 15-17 the Swissôtel Krasnye Holmy, Moscow, hosted a business conference bringing together representatives of the Indian Economic Trade Organization (IETO, comprising representatives from various sectors of Indian business), the United Diplomatic Council (UDC) - an international platform for fostering diplomacy, leadership, and international cooperation, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
The list of participants of the event included leaders of associations representing Russian business, banking, the academic community, agricultural and pharmaceutical producers, cultural figures and representatives of the hospitality industry and public organizations.
IETO, represented by CEO Mr. Asif Iqbal and vice-president Mr. Vali Kashvi, briefed participants on the organization's activities and the prospects for Russian business in India, and introduced the members of the Delegation.
SCO representative Mr. A. Srinivasan presented the organization's achievements to the guests amidst the challenging international environment, noting the positive development trends of Russia, India, and China - the BRICS member states that form the core of the group.
During the presentation of their proposals, the Indian colleagues outlined innovations in production and research and invited the Russian colleagues to collaborate across various fields.
The current Russian-Indian trade balance requires adjustment. One potential tool for stabilizing the situation could be the conversion of Russian exporters' rupee-denominated assets into direct investments in new projects within India. This situation opens the door to a dialogue on expanding bilateral commercial cooperation.
In this context, Alexey Dolgushin, representative of Sberbank, outlined the opportunities available for optimizing mutual settlements.
The Business Council for Cooperation with India is actively working to deepen ties with India, operating under the auspices of the Moscow Government's Department for External Economic and International Relations directed by Minister Sergey Cheremin. It serves as an effective tool for promoting and implementing joint projects.
Vitaly Vasilyev, Director of the "Rodnoy Kray" Foundation for Regional Support and Development, outlined opportunities for cooperation across a wide range of innovative projects covering various sectors.
Recently, Russian-Indian trade and economic ties have developed rapidly, and ensuring favorable conditions for the entry of Indian products into the Russian market requires systematic marketing efforts, including holding conferences, business missions, forums and exhibitions, as well as other tools.
The including part of the conference featured signing memorandums of cooperation.
On June 30, 2026, "NRI Club-Indian Compatriots in Russia" and the "Rodnoy Kray" Foundation for Regional Support and Development signed a cooperation agreement.
The document initiating working collaboration between the two organizations was signed by Mr. Devadathan Nair, Director of "NRI Club," and Vitaly Vasiliev, Director of the "Rodnoy Kray" Foundation.
